The #1 struggle most coaches face is getting clients.
AKA sales.
Sales is the bloodline of any business. Without it, you’re basically running a non-profit. And unless that’s how you’ve set up your business, it’s not sustainable.
Do you ever find yourself…
Fumbling to find the right words to explain what you do?
Feeling frustrated that more people aren’t interested in the amazing product or service you have to offer?
Confident that you can truly help people, but feeling like you’re hitting one dead end after another trying to find them?
And when you do connect with someone who’d be a great fit to work with, they seem to lose interest and move on?
Or you lose them by coming off as “too much” or defensive when you talk about why what you’re offering is so cool and beneficial?
If so, this is for you.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to meet A LOT of incredible, purpose-driven people.
And as a young entrepreneur, I love getting to know these visionaries and listening to their stories.
The kind of people who really want to:
Help kids get an early start with personal development, or…
Support millennials with figuring out their finances and getting a handle on their money, or…
Help couples who deal with conflict, trust, and intimacy issues.
MANY of these coaches have trouble getting their message heard, absorbed, and acted on…
And when you dig deep into it, it really boils down to one KEY thing they’re missing:
They’re not entering the conversation going on in their prospect’s mind.
They focus on sharing their mission and what they do, but it’s generic. It doesn’t sound much different from what everyone else online is saying.
They focus on themselves, what they do, and why they think it’s so great.
But that creates a HUGE disconnect with their audience.
They’re not asking themselves WHY their prospects care about their product or service…
They’re not asking themselves WHY these people are motivated to listen…
And they’re NOT thinking about the most important thing that’s on their prospect’s mind RIGHT NOW.
As the coach, it’s easy to look at your product or service and see the benefits and why your prospects SHOULD care… but here’s the thing…
Sometimes, they’re not there yet.
They haven’t gotten to the point where they can clearly see that what you have to offer will change their lives for the better.
And when you simply TELL them why it should matter to them, you may as well be talking to a brick wall.
If you’re spending time and money on promoting your message, but your message only speaks to you and doesn’t attract, engage, or empower the right people to take action, then it’s precious time and money wasted.
Here’s what you need to do instead:
Gain. Their. Trust.
Trust is the lubricant of your marketing.
When you build trust and rapport with your ideal clients, you can better enter the conversation in their head, which means you can meet them where they’re at RIGHT NOW, in this moment.
And when they place their trust in you, you can then SHOW them the way, rather than telling them what’s best for them.
That’s when you can start delivering them what they want (or think they need) so that you can get them up to speed and ready for your services.
It all boils down to basic psychology.
People want to know what’s in it for them.
We all have this innate desire to be heard and understood.
The BEST way to make people feel heard and understood (so you can convert a prospect into a paying customer) is to meet them where they’re at.
That means listening to them. Stepping into their world. Asking questions so you can uncover their greatest pains and deepest desires so you can speak to that in your marketing.
When you start crafting your message using the words they use to describe where they’re at and what they want (instead of what you think it is they want) the results are game changing.
If you want to turn an uninterested prospect into a client who can’t wait to get started, then your message has to speak to their very core and make them think, “OMG, YOU get me!!”
So next time you’re working on a pitch or sales page, just ask yourself this:
“WHY should these people care about what I have to share with them RIGHT NOW?”
What is the #1 thing they truly desire? IN THEIR LANGUAGE.
Then incorporate that in your messaging and marketing. Paint the picture so they clearly see and feel that YOU truly understand them and that YOU are the one best-equipped to help them get to where they want to be.
That way, when they’re ready to buy, you’ll be top of mind.
If you want to connect with people authentically, attract your ideal clients, and show them that you’re THE coach they’ve been searching for, I’ve got just the thing for you.
